Welcome Jocelyn Knight from UPenn’s Masters in Genetic Counseling Program
The STXBP1 Foundation is always thrilled to work with the next generation of talented researchers, scientists, and clinicians especially when they focus on rare genetic diseases. And much like we have supported aspiring researchers in the Uplifting Athletes’ Young Investigator Draft, we are proud to welcome our new Genetic Counseling Student Exchange (GCSX) student, Jocelyn Knight to the STXBP1 family!
Jocelyn is a first year graduate student at UPenn’s Masters in Genetic Counseling Program. She is originally from Garnet Valley, PA, and completed her undergraduate studies at Penn State University with a B.S. in Biobehavioral Health. Following graduation, she worked as an ABA therapist for Preparing Individuals Today for Tomorrow, as well as a customer support representative at her family’s Chinese herbal medicine store in Philadelphia. This semester, she is working alongside the STXBP1 Foundation to empower families with knowledge and encourage their participation in advancing research and improving understanding of STXBP1-related disorders.
Jocelyn is also a passionate runner, traveler, skier, and spends much of her time outside of class hanging out with her cat, Orbee!
The GCSX is an amazing opportunity for students provided by the JumpStart Program in the Gene Therapy Program of the Orphan Disease Center at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.
Keep an eye out for communications from Jocelyn including ways to participate in STXBP1-related disorders studies like our Get Ready for Clinical Trials program.
If you know of other aspiring superstars like Jocelyn, please reach out to our VP and Scientific Liaison, Jackie Steinberg here.
